Chromarium

Chromarium

1998

It is a simulation of a hypothetical abstract universe populated by colored circles. The colors, the dimensions and the movements varied in a substantially random way but were conditioned by behavioral rules and by the intervention of the user who could move, “tickle” or “scratch” the circles. Internal “environmental” events occurred from time to time disturbing the activity of the circles and the user.

The artwork was exhibited at the “Interaction Design” exhibition, Palazzo dell’Arengario, Milano, 1999.

The software was built using the C++ programming language and the DirectX graphics library, and is no longer executable on operating systems after Windows XP.
